Peaches Needs a Home!

UPDATE: 12/29/13 - Peaches had found her furever home! She was adopted today and can now relax and get on with her life. Congrats Peaches!

Peaches doesn't understand why her owner brought her to the shelter.

This cutie with the beautiful eyes is about three years old and weighs nine pounds. She gets along with other kitties, too.

As you can tell, she is a bit afraid in the shelter environment. Hearing dogs barking, kennel staff carts rumbling by with strangers peering at her through the window is taking a toll on Peaches.

The bad news is she's succumbing to kennel stress and is at risk of being euthanized.

The good news is that Peaches is available to adopt at the San Jose Animal Care Center and during their Home for the Holidays promotion, her adoption fee is just $12!

When she sees the shelter's cat volunteers come into the community room, she will come out from her cubby to say hello and get some pets. The volunteers say she is friendly and gentle. She is just a little shy and would do best in a quiet home.

YOU can save her life... go to San Jose Animal Care Center located at 2750 Monterey Road in San Jose and adopt Peaches #A727811 today!

Peaches is precious. Did the owner cite a reason for taking her to the shelter? We would consider taking her, but our home is the opposite of quiet and she may get annoyed with out little dog who barks when she pleases...coincidentally, does she get along with dogs? (I know that information is harder to come by than getting along with other cats).
Thank you!

Sorry, forgot to ask-do you know if she was an outdoor/indoor kitty in her previous home?

We hope to have more information about her history soon and can let you know more. A barking dog may be too much for her to handle given how stressed she is at the shelter though.

Oddly I cannot respond directly to you, Deanna...but thanks for the info! Yes my dogs can be a bit rowdy-may not be a fit, but I truly hopes she finds a home soon! Thank you!

I live alone with 2 eight month old sister kittens which I have had since 6 weeks old. They are indoor cats. Would this be a good match?

David - that might be a terrific match! You should go meet Peaches. Do you know where the shelter is located? I might be able to arrange a cat volunteer to meet you if the timing works. Let me know!

Hi Deanna. I know where the shelter is. I don't know your hours. I work until 5 during the week. I work downtown. I could come Saturday if you assure me Peaches won't be euthanized before then. You may call me at 408 839-0948

My husband will be calling when you open today. Our household is quiet, but we do have other pets. I will be away for the next couple of hours. I'll check back here to see what has happened when I get home. <3

I have been posting and sharing Peaches on Facebook to my rescue people I know and have been actively looking for an adopter for her. When I clicked on her photo today and was redirected to Pet Harbor, I see she is no longer available. I am dreading hearing the news. Was she euthanized?
