UPDATED: 12/17/13 - Lacey is safe! She is destressing in a caring foster home. She will be available for adoption after she's had some time to relax.
Very often animals in a shelter environment begin to decline mentally due to kennel stress. Lacey, a friendly 2 year old boxer and pit bull mix at the San Jose shelter is a prime example.
She is no longer available to adopt due to kennel stress taking its toll on her. She is at risk of euthanasia in the next few days unless a foster home can be found for her.
Lacey is a 'happy go lucky' girl outside of her kennel and her favorite past time is romping in the play yards during doggie playgroups.
She is especially fond of sitting on the couch in the dog lounge in the volunteer room and soaking up the attention of dog volunteers and staff passing by.
Watch this great video of her playing with friends in the play yard and getting some special attention on the dog couch:

She would benefit from some basic obedience classes where she can bond with her new person and brush up on her skills. Unfortunately, if a temporary or permanent home is not found immediately, Lacey will not have a second chance in life.
