Time to Bust Jack Out!

UPDATE: 6/16/14 - Jack will leave the shelter tomorrow and go to his fantastic foster home. Once he's kicked his cat cold, you can adopt him through St. Francis Animal Protection Society!

Did you see the movie "Groundhog Day" where Bill Murray relives the same experience over and over again with no end in sight? We pull for him to be able to break out of his seemingly endless and hopeless situation.

Seven year old Jack knows the plot well. He is living his own "Groundhog Day" at the San Jose shelter. He's a mellow, slightly shy boy who has been at the shelter since mid-March. He can't seem to shake his kitty cold and it keeps...coming...back.

What Jack needs most is to get out of the shelter environment. A week or two to destress in a loving quiet home is almost a surefire cure to the common cat cold.

Once he has kicked his cold, he would be fine with other laid back kitties and has spent time in the shelter's community cat room. He doesn't care for the crazy in your face type of felines though.

Can you break Jack out of his recurring groundhog funk by giving him a temporary or permanent home? Fill out our application here. Got questions? Email us at [email protected].

UPDATE: 6/14/14 - Kayla continues to thrive in her foster home and now has a spiffy set of pink wheels to tool around with.

She and her foster family stopped by the St. Francis yard sale fund raiser today.

Obviously she was a big fan of the succulents.

UPDATE: 6/6/14 - Kayla says goodbye to the shelter and will sleep in a wonderful foster home tonight. Once she has had a chance to settle in and her spinal condition has been assessed, she will be available to adopt through St. Francis Animal Protection Society!

This 10 year old adorable little girl is Kayla. She was surrendered to the San Jose shelter by her owner and is at risk. We are searching for an extra special foster home for her.

Kayla has a spinal injury and while she is paralyzed in her rear legs, it doesn't slow her down for one second! She can motor around and loves to play with her squeaky toy. She is very affectionate and quickly bonds with people. And, she gets along with other dogs!

It is uncertain whether she will get the use of her legs back and she may need to use a doggy wheelchair for the rest of her life. At this time she is also incontinent and will require diapers. This may or may not be a permanent condition. Her sponsoring rescue organization will cover the cost of a medical evaluation.

If you can help us save this happy active pup and give her the special care she needs, fill out our application here.

Have questions? Email us at [email protected].

Watch her video and see just how full of life Kayla is!
