It's easier than you think to make a difference for the animals in our community!  San Jose Animal Advocates is dedicated to education about animal welfare issues and spreading the word about how we in the San Jose community can have an impact.

It is estimated that each year about 1 million animals enter shelters throughout the state of California and half of these animals are euthanized.  This  statistic is due to:

• People abandoning their pets because of the mortgage and unemployment crisis
• Accidental litters from unaltered pets
• Over-breeding of dogs and cats, and other companion animals
• Stray dogs and cats reproducing

Silicon Valley, known for its cutting-edge technology innovation, is home to multiple animal welfare organizations. We believe San Jose (and neighboring cities) can be a model for animal welfare awareness..

There are many different ways you can help.

• Adopt a shelter/rescue animal
• Donate pet supplies or funds to shelters/rescue groups
• Foster a shelter/rescue pet
• Volunteer your time with one of the local organizations listed
