Hope for Hope

UPDATE - 9/3/13: As it turns out... there is HOPE! Hope has a foster home. Stay tuned for more details on her.
Picture
This 15 pounds of sweet Pug mix is not enjoying the holiday weekend.  She is worried that it could be her last few days. The shelter feels she is too shy for adoption so she has been given a deadline.  We have named her Hope.

Initially terrified in the shelter, Hope has begun to relax and her personality is beginning to blossom. (She thoroughly enjoyed getting out of her kennel for a photo shot. We even saw a tail wag.)

She is very food motivated which should make her easy to train. She is submissive and seems to get along well with other dogs.

Is there hope for Hope? Don't let this be her last holiday! You can save this little girl's life by providing a temporary or permanent home or simply sharing her story. Fill out our foster application here.

Jasmine's Journey: What is Next?

UPDATE: 8/21/13 - Jasmine has a FOREVER home! We are so happy for this sweet girl.
PictureWaiting for a forever home
For years Guinness and Jasmine were living the good life: napping on top of mom's bed, warming themselves in sun spots and occasionally playing with their toys.

Overnight their world turned upside down. Their person became ill and unable to care for them so they were brought to the San Jose shelter.

PictureWill you save me?
The two were evaluated and Guinness* was put up for adoption. Jasmine was not so lucky. She has a minor heart murmur and is at risk of euthanasia unless a foster home** is found. Although frightened at the shelter, Jasmine retains her soft, sweet personality and will give a 'mew' at the mention of her name. She is a brown tabby Maine Coon mix about 10 years old.

Jasmine has lost her person, lost her home and lost her brother. Can you help us give her a new life? She needs a temporary or permanent home immediately. Please fill out our foster application here.

*Guinness was adopted this past weekend and now lives in Santa Cruz. Initially very scared, he is quickly coming out of his shell and purring again. His new mom has fallen in love with him.

Save a Senior!

UPDATE: 8/20/13 - Our senior is safe! We have a committed rescue for this little man. He will be getting out of the shelter very soon.
Picture
This beautiful older gent was hit by a car. A good Samaritan who witnessed the event brought him to the shelter.

Traumatized by the ordeal and finding himself in a strange environment, this guy is scared. So scared that the shelter has deemed him 'unadoptable'.  When he first arrived, he would lay flat without moving.

Picture
He's settling in and becoming more relaxed. As you can see, he's wondering why people are in his kennel taking pictures of him.

This boy is a senior Dachshund and Pekingese mix and weighs about 13 lbs.

Please help us save this little guy! We need a temporary or permanent home immediately. Fill out our foster application here.

What should we name him? Email your suggestion to [email protected].

UPDATE 8/21/13 - Sammy is doing well in his temporary home under the care of foster dad, Ryan.

Here he is hanging out in the back yard on dad's lap. Sammy looks very content!

UPDATE 8/12/13 - Sammy has a foster home once again! Please contact Janet at [email protected] if you are interested in adopting him.

Remember Sammy the Cocker Spaniel who was rescued from the San Jose shelter? Due to a terrible tragedy, his foster person is unable to care for him. He no longer has a foster home.

Sammy needs an experienced foster home without young children. He can be nippy if pushed to do things he doesn't want to do. He simply needs time to get used to new people at his own pace. Sammy is good around other dogs.

If you have the foster background that Sammy requires and can provide a temporary or permanent home, please contact Janet at [email protected]. You can also fill out our application here.

Let's find Sammy a home!
